JIBAN BISWAS

Artist

Bio

Jiban Biswas is an acclaimed artist from a remote village close to Shantiniketan, who is now based in Kolkatta. The impact of being surrounded by all kinds of birds and animals led to these subjects being the source of his day-dreams. During his childhood days, the inclination towards the world of paintings grew stronger, which eventually ignited the desire to create something new. However, never did he plan to paint himself.

Over the years, as he moved to Kolkata to pursue further studies in Visual Arts from the prestigious institution of Government Art College, he became determined to stay bonded to the world of fine arts.

Jiban Biswas makes a conscious effort to capture the good and bad times of life, in form of his creations. He has made desperate attempts to view “life” from all its perspectives, as it kept evolving. His art has grown to be the reflection of his conscious and sub-conscious senses, on the contemporary socio-economical and political platforms. Irrespective of the theme of his works, his beloved birds and animals have returned as integral components of his creations and emblems of his own self.

“For the sake of the artist’s conscience within me, I am a rebellion and a mocker; however, my soul is a true lover of nature from the core.”
