Bio

Jayakumar is a Madras, India based artist well known for his pen and ink drawings.  The human and animal form motifs he uses are distinctive to his works. The artist was particularly drawn to the bull and horse animal forms and many of his works feature clouds and rain dripping in the background.

His works dwell in the themes of the complexity of human emotions and desires, the selfishness and selflessness of relationships, the contradictions and struggles one goes through when forging ties and bonds with others and their environment. He depicts these convoluted feelings poetically on canvas with distorted figurative representation and playing with positive and negative space in the composition.
