Artist
Ahobilam Prabhaker, an artist from Hyderabad, was born in 1972. He has been working in the arts industry as an artist for 20 years. Throughout his journey as an artist, he has been actively participating and being invited to many group shows and art camps organised by established organisations. The realm of eternal love can be found in Ahobilam’s paintings, depicting Radha and Krishna in the effort to ensure their prominence in the art practice. He has quite an innovative technique and approach as well in which he renders the elongated figures with thick opaque paints and the rich drapery with transparency. He creates a depth on his works with the help of solid tints which emerge from dark contours and the subdued folds and undercuts. The visualisation of the protagonists with a stylised nose, thick lips, and broad fish-like meditative eyes reminisces the idealised Indian sculptures that radiate a lyrical quality.
Founded in early 2003, The Gallery of Gnani Arts has been a local and regional trend-setter within its area of research, curation and collection expertise – South Indian contemporary art by masters and international artists. Apart from curating and marketing its primary collection of art by masters and senior artists, the Gallery continues to launch the careers of a selective number of artists from Singapore (where it is based) and from other parts of the globe. Clients of The Gallery of Gnani Arts include the Singapore Art Museum of the National Heritage Board (Singapore) and numerous corporations and individuals in Europe and Southeast Asia.
